The 2016 Spring Water Festival is planning to have a free concert on Saturday August 27 featuring a nationally known “classic country artist” organizers said. Entertainment for the festival will be announced soon!
After taking a year off, The 5K Spring Water Run will return this year as a featured attraction of the 35th annual Spring Water Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27. The run is sanctioned as an RRCA Grand Prix event.
Entry fee is $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the race. Pre-registration ends on August 21.
The 5K open race will begin at 7:45 a.m.
(There will not be a one mile fun run this year)
Registration will be held on the day of the festival, August 27 between 6:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot beside McDonald’s in downtown Williamston.
Medals will go to all finishers in the one mile race and trophies will go to the top two males and females in the 5K, the top two male and female masters and the first three places male and female, by age group.
Age groups will include 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, and 65 and over.
Awards and drawings will be held following the one mile run. All registered runners are eligible for race day drawings which will include a variety of prizes. Pictures of all winners will be made immediately after presentation of awards.
The course includes city streets and country roads with rolling hills. Splits will be called at the one and two mile mark and water stations will be on the course, organizer Michael Vickery said.
Food and drink will be provided after the race for runners. The Williamston Police Department will secure all major intersections. Run applications are available at The Journal or by emailing Vickery at michaelvickery7@gmail.com

2016 Forms and Applications
Churches, businesses and organizations in the area are joining the Town of Williamston to place lighted displays in Williamston’s Christmas Park this holiday season. Opening night ceremonies and lighting of the park will be held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, 2016 at 6 p.m., at the Amphitheater Stage in Mineral Spring Park.
Santa Claus will also be arriving on the town’s antique 1936 Fire Engine and visiting with children in the Scout Hut.
Cookies and hot chocolate will be given out by local churches and groups each Saturday night also to help visitors keep warm while strolling through the park or watching special entertainment.
The lighting of the park will include the opening of Deck the Halls in Williamston’s Municpal Center. The annual event has become a holiday tradition for the town and features beautifully decorated Christmas trees in the main hallways of the Municipal Center. It will be open to the public for viewing following the lighting of the park and during regular business hours through the holidays.
Hours for viewing trees will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through the holiday season.
Organizers of the 2015 Spring Water Festival are finalizing plans for the annual event which is only three weeks away.
The family friendly two day festival, celebrating their 34th year, will be held August 21 and 22, 2015 in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park and will feature more than 100 craft and business vendors, the area’s largest antique and classic auto show, kids activities, amusement rides, live music and other special attractions. Spring Water Run taking a break
Due to other committments and the need for a break by our race organizer, there will not be a Spring Water Run this year. Organizers hope to have the 5K run event return for the 2016 Spring Water Festival.
